Be The Real You- Black and White Ginger Ale ad (Unsponsored feedback)
Author's note:- This is an unsponsored review of the Choice ad by Black and White Ginger Ale Company. I haven't been paid a dime to say in favour of or against this ad or this company. I am simply writing down my thoughts.
I don't often watch ads out of my own choice, but I haven't been given much choice when ads are littered all over pathways, railway stations, screens and virtually wherever there seems to be an empty serene spot in the world around me. However, I encountered this ad in the most common way I seem to come across them: social media and this blog post precisely talks about that.
Plot
It might be difficult to grasp what is going on in the 42 seconds of video when the language spoken is part Hindi and part English, but this is what takes place. The scene opens with a young woman taking the product to a family gathering where several members are already seated, having a laugh over a certain unspecified topic. "House-husbands", one of the members jokingly points out to the others. To evoke a funny banter, a younger female member states out loud that they call the older generation 'boomers'. To this, an older male member of the family retorts that he calls the younger generation 'idiots'. The lady from the beginning joins the conversation and drops a question which attracts a pin-drop silence from everyone present. "What do we call women who don't want children?" To that, coincidentally the most supportive person on the table says, 'her choice'.
Mine and Public Feedback
My initial thoughts and reaction to the ad were quite mellow as it is with all things I come across on social media. Most often, engagement is the only thing that is on the minds of creators and users. So it isn't surprising when the most vitriolic and vicious things are posted. However, this one stuck out and felt worth writing about because of the hot take presented towards the end. I reside in a country where this opinion would be considered as woke; meant in a negative sense; since any indication or evidence of rights for women is practically invisible As expected, the hot take didn't sit well with a lot of people as evident in the comment section of the ad and while I am not here to fight anyone on the internet, I've expressed how I feel about the said ad in the previous statement. But, to counter some arguments, and add my own feedback in the loop as promised in the title, I feel like men who think marriage is all about having children from their wives should probably dodge marriages for their own sake. In a day and age where the population is booming like crazy and wages aren't matching the prices, you might be better off not saving the alimony money in the long run.
Author's note:- If you think this was too "woke" of a take and you'd like an opinion that doesn't blaze your dignity, here is another blog post based and pandered entirely for you.
If you are on the other side and like my opinion perhaps you'll like one of the unorthodox views on dealing with the aftermath or trauma of sexual assault.
