Sinners- A Short but Different Story
Author's note:- This movie has nothing to do with Sinners. I haven't watched the movie, just the trailer. If you find a few similarities, note that this is a coincidence. Note that the only thing common is the title and the characters' names. Thank you for reading.
Wheeled into a white room with loads of equipment, I stared
silently into the walls. When the wheels came to a stop, the sound of my mother’s
heels; who had been the one to wheel me in; suggested she had stepped back and
took a seat in the back of room. Dr Martin began sticking various pieces of
gadget around my ear and my scalp.
A loud female voice echoed in the room.
“and so is the story of what happened there.”
“Aha! We’ve done it!” Dr Martin said out loud happily.
We had been seated across the boy’s family. All of a sudden,
I found the nerve to speak up.
“Ummm arghhh ehhh fusjaiand”
“She is saying….?” The boy inquired.
“She trying to tell you her story.” My mother explained.
“What kind of story?”
“The kind she has endured right before this.”
“Are you interested in this story?” My mother inquired on my
behalf.
“Of course. I want to know everything. Please start.”
“It was a few years ago. Do you remember the pandemic? Yes.
Around that time. Cheryl, my friend had gotten infected and she lived a few
houses away from us. It was bad. I know it……coz I went to visit her. Her body
was completely filled with rashes and she had a high fever. I think I made the mistake
of touching her forehead but everyone said I’d be fine since the contact was
made for a few seconds. Even her tongue wasn’t spared. The red bumps were ugly
and poor Cheryl was in acute body pain. As soon as I came home from her’s, she”
“She means me”, my mother said, interrupting the translation
and translated the slight change in noun.
“I made her burn all the clothes and wear new ones. We
didn’t want her infected. She is a weak child. Pretty sensitive too.”
“Yes!” I continued in my babbled cohesion of language while
my mother translated entire sentences on my behalf.
“We decided to quickly leave town as the tenants of our
rented rooms came coughing in right after and opted to come back when things
were better. That is when, we hurriedly packed our bags, jumped in our car and
made our way out of the town.
Situation seemed even worse outside. Thankfully, we knew
which way to go and as we got closer, the thunderous coughing from fellow folks
had died down. Quickly, we made it
inside our second residence and this is where the terrible things started
happening to me.”
“That night when I fell asleep, I woke up in a different
town all together.”
“Knaw Bone” I hurriedly signed.
“Lady! Lady! Miss! Wake up!” , a dark-skinned man
towered over me as his words made it in my ear. He shoved his shoe under my back.
As I opened my eyes, I swallowed. Instantly, I knew I had
gotten the flu.
“Are you okay? What are you doing idling over here? What is your name?”
"Rita" I coughed hoarsely. “Surely, I was brought here against my will. I was in Rabbit
Hash.” Raspy tones came out of my mouth.
“What is this place?”
“Knaw Bone. Come inside. It isn’t safe out here.” He held my
hand and began guiding me inside the barn house. Apparently I'd been lying outside this establishment.
We took the stairs up and he closed the door behind him.
“I’m Stack. Rest here…” he said pointing to the bed “I’ll
find and bring up some food for you.”
Aligned with his decision, I decided to rest my
eyes for a little while longer.
In a hurry, I opened my eyes to something unexpected. A
female vampire with blood spilling out of her mouth was lunging towards me.
Before I could report how my heart beat quickened and my
head shot up, I jumped out of her way as she lunged on my chest.
“STACK! STACK! HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPP” I screamed at the
top of my voice. The sound of footsteps running upwards stairs could be heard.
“Shut up bitch” The vampire hissed.
The door bust open and Stack came in between us, arms extended.
“Mary, relax! Mary! I brought her here.”
Angrily, Mary looked at Stack and gnarled at him. She leapt
off the bed and lunged at him. Stack dodged her.
“Rita! Hold her arms!” Stack yelled as he grabbed one of her
arms and nailed her down on the floor. I ran and grabbed her other arm but her
long fingernails drew blood.
“OUCH!”
“Careful! Hold her at the wrist.” Stack cried as Mary
aggressively struggled to get out of his hold. Howling, she tried all attempts
to draw blood once again as I used my other hand to hold her wrist from the
other side and used my bleeding hand to pin her wrist down.
“Repeat this Ortha-bhà is spell with me.”
Mary bellowed as another more attractive lady’s holographic
figure began materializing from her body.
We kept going.
Finally, the bellowing calmed down and Mary fainted. A
figure of the same attractive nymph emerged from her body and took flight
towards the sky.
Mary opened her eyes slowly.
“Mary? Do you feel okay?” Her eyes turned red and blood
began dripping from her corners of her mouth. Sensing something wrong, I began
inching back.
“No. I don’t think so.”
“Let’s wait. It could have worked.”
“AARRRGGGHHH”
“Okay! Let’s run!” Stack kicked the door open and pulled me
through the arm. As we ran downstairs, we could hear Mary’s screaming behind
us. Once out of stairs, we changed ways. I ran to the familiar path and Stack
ran towards the one unknown to me. I didn’t stop running as I could feel Mary coming
behind me. Suddenly Stack appeared in front of us with a glock in hand.
BANG!
I turned to see Mary who had gotten shot in the stomach,
hunched. She looked up again smiling.
BANG BANG BANG BANG
Mary fell down on ground. We went to notice her again. Stack
lit a match and let it fall. Immediately, her entire body was in flames.
“Rita! Rita!” Another man similar to Stack came running out
the back door. His head was facing the other side, while his body faced front.
He turned his head the other way and spotted me.
Confused, I inquired. “You’re not Stack?!”
“I am. This is my brother Smoke. Smoke, meet Rita.”
“Oh! This is the girl you kidnapped.”
“I’m sorry, what?” A needle was jabbed onto my neck and suddenly a strain of
pain followed the same.
"I opened my eyes once again. I tried calling out. My jaw
didn’t move. At least, it didn’t move much. A few garbled words came out. My
mother who happened to be passing by the room with laundry, saw me awake and
rushed towards me."
“Rita! Dear! Are you okay?
“gjbsfjvninfs”
“What’s wrong? Why can’t you speak? Oh dear. Oh god!” Mom
turned towards dad and shouted, “HONEY!!!”
“Alas here I am and this is what happened to me. Now say, do
you have an opposition to this marriage?” A mechanical voice filled the room. I turned around and faced Joy.
“I don’t.” Joy replied
"I love you no matter what and I'm here for you no matter what."
