UnSeen (Part II)- Short Story
Day 5
I swung my legs as usual I jumped out of bed.
Squeakkkkkk. The bathroom door squeaked open. I turned on the light. A warm glow spread across the bathroom floor.
I flicked open the toothpaste lid.
Squiirrrrttttt. A small, delicate line of the pearly white gel materialized on my toothbrush. The texture felt smooth and creamy, and the minty aroma immediately filled the air, invigorating my senses. I began brushing my teeth, feeling the rich foam enveloping each tooth and the fresh taste leaving my mouth feeling clean and revitalized.
I gargled with water and spit out the contents.
It is time for my favourite part now. I shook my hips from side to side. Skincare!!!!!
I pulled the tiny grip residing on the left drawer under the sink. Upon pulling, a delicately arranged shelf of products emerged from the surface.
First things first, toner.
Watery liquid oozed upon a squeeze and soaked up the cotton pad. Gently, I dabbed the pad on my skin, doing my cheek first.
I picked up the product bottles one by one, step by step, careful not to drop or miss any on the ground.
I picked up the last bottle on the inventory. Foundation. Slowly, I swirled away the liquid on my face with a brush and blended the stripes away with a beauty sponge.
I peeked in closer to the mirror. Crystal-clear. All acne was gone. My skin looked as smooth as a baby's face.
I shut the drawer and turned off the light. The room went dark as night.
Slowly, I creaked the door shut behind me.

"So! How was last night?" Dad inquired, sipping on his tea.
"There wasn't any party--. Wait. How do you know about the party? MUMMY!!!!"
"She didn't say anything. I just took a random guess..........So! There was a party after all. Huh!" He lifted the glass mug to his lips and poured the tea down his throat.
"Social media posts????"
"What?"
"You read somebody's social media posts, right?"
"No. I took a random guess. You like going out with friends, after all."
"Oh. Yeah. Yeah, I do."
"Where are they? Why didn't they call you yesterday?"
"They've been busy with something."
"Ah! I see.
Well, would you look at the time? It is getting late already. C'mon, finish your milk. Let's go!"

A playful grin played across a tall girl's lips. She leaned in towards her petite friend and nudged her gently with her shoulder. "Ha! So, Amy and romantic, eh?" she teased, her tone suggesting that she was privy to some juicy gossip about the petite girl's love life. The petite girl rolled her eyes and playfully swatted the taller girl's arm. "Don't be ridiculous," she replied, but her cheeks were flushed with embarrassment, betraying her true feelings.
Heels clacking on the floor suddenly silenced the chatter to whispers. All that could be heard were low, hushed voices echoing against the walls.
As the piercing sound of the bell echoed throughout the school, the previously calm and quiet corridors were suddenly filled with a wave of students rushing to their next class. Head still racing with a thousand thoughts, I quickly made my way through the sea of bodies, trying my best to navigate through the chaos. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I arrived at my classroom, relieved and out of breath.

WHACK!
I slammed the tennis ball in a semi-circular motion. As I listened, a plane flew across the sky.
"IS THERE A DOMESTIC AIRPORT OR A RUNWAY CLOSE BY?" I shouted at the top of my voice, waiting for a reply from the other side.
"NONE THAT I KNOW OF." Sneha cupped her mouth and shouted back.
We engaged in a game for a significant period, what seemed like an hour and a half and sweat out all our energy. Making good use of my skills and strategies to overcome my opponent, I emerged victorious after an intense match with a final score of 40-15.
"When are you coming back to school? It is lonely without you." We slammed down our wristbands on the bench. I patted a towel on my temples.
"I am coming back tomorrow. I promise." Sneha replied, zipping up her bag.
The plane vroomed above in the skies again, slightly below than the last time.
We began walking towards the gate.
"Hey! Don't forget. We have a girl's night on Friday." Sneha called out, turning her back to the
"Yeahhh... sure." I fished my phone out of my pocket and pressed the call button.
"BYEEEEEEE!"
"Byeeeeee!
Hello mummy! I'm done. Can you come pick me up?"
"I'm on my way. Wait there!" Mum replied over the call.

"How was the game?"
"It was fun! I won!"
"You did? That's good! Congrats!"
"Mummy?"
"Yes?" Mum asked, keeping her eyes on the road.
"Did you tell Daddy about the party?"
"No. I did not. Actually....yes..kind of...I did tell him you were going out."
"Oh!
"Why?"
"Nothing. Daddy and I were talking about it, this morning."
"Oh!"
"By the way...did you keep any biscuits for me from that morning?"
"Yes. They are in the jar, in the upper cabinet, besides flour."
"Alright. Thanks."
The car gradually slowed down and finally came to a complete stop.
"We are home!"

I reached out and grasped my well-worn Maths notebook, its cover slightly creased from months of use. With a satisfying rustle, I opened the pages and savoured the familiar scent of ink and paper. My eyes scanned the problems on the first page and, with a confident hand, I grabbed a pen and began to solve them, one by one.
As the clock struck ten, I let out a deep sigh and closed the book that I had been working on for hours. The thin pages rustled as I carefully placed it in my bag, ensuring not to damage its worn-out cover. The sums had been gripping, but my eyes were now heavy with fatigue. It was time to rest and let my mind drift off into a peaceful slumber.
I reversed the phone to face it right side down on the table.
"Oh my god! This is such bull---"
"Is this everywhere?"
Hurriedly, I backed out of YouTube pressed the bird app, drafted a tweet and posted it.
